Annette
is a Hawaii resident with over twenty years experience in travel. She
specializes in planning and producing custom designed ecotours for people with
an interest in outdoors experiences and learning opportunities about natural
and cultural resources in Hawaii and elsewhere.
Her
interest in ecotourism stems from her 40 year involvement leading local and
national trips and service projects for the Sierra Club. She plans and guides
field trips and service trip outings for the Sierra Clubs Hawaii
Chapter.
Annette
was a member of the committee that planned the 1994 Hawaii State Conference on
Ecotourism. She was a founding member of the Hawaii Ecotourism Association and
is the President of the Board of Directors.
Annette served
eight years on the state's Natural Area Reserves Commission and was appointed
Chairperson by Hawaii's former Governor Benjamin J. Cayetano.
As an advocate of
sustainable tourism, Annette was asked to serve on several visitor industry
committees exploring ways to create Hawaii as model for sustainability. She
served on the Natural Resources Advisory Group for the Hawaii Tourism Authority
in the early 2000's.
She presented at
the First US Conference on Ecotourism in Bar Harbor, Maine in September 2005,
(Click Here For PowerPoint Presentation), and has
attended many international conferences on adventure travel and ecotourism.
Currently, Annette was on the Advisory Committee for the North American
Ecotourism Conference held on September 26-28, 2007 in Madison, Wisconsin.
Annette takes delight in planning unique vacations to other
destinations in addition to Hawaii, and would love to create lasting memories
for you.
